The 5 sisters restaurant was recommended to us by a local if we wanted authentic, fresh & reasonably priced seafood. At first, we were very hesitant to go there due to the negative yelp and trip advisor reviews, but headed to Marina Grande anyway as we saw there were plenty of restaurants there with good reviews.
Boy was this an experience of a lifetime, both food and culture-wise (in the most positive way!)
We started off looking at the displayed menu and "sister #1" came up to us and said with a smile and hand gesture [in Italian accent] "you drink, you eat and then you 'fook' off" at which point we both looked at each other and thought this would be fun. Keep in mind, we've been traveling all over Italy for about a month now and appreciate their raw sense of humor. Traveling for this long, we also are conscious of our spending on food at restaurants and typical coperto is about 1.50 to 2 euro for touristy areas.
After reading the menu, we decided "fook" this and just asked her for her recommendation for fresh grilled fish/seafood. She said [Italian accent] "OK, you do two caprese salads, two fish, lemon cake and... you 'fook' off". We ordered a half liter of their house white, which was the best house white we've had so far.
Food:
WOW! Even though the caprese salad was simple, it was super tasty (especially with a little sprinkle of salt and pepper). The fish was super fresh and sweet. The plates were very simple, but the flavor and quality was fantastic! Even though my fiance really wanted tiramisu, "sister #1's" recommendation of the "lemon cake" was super moist and light tasting. He loved it! Perhaps this was a lemon tiramisu. We also ordered the 3 euro sardines and it was super fresh and yummy. The portion was pretty good, given the price.
Culture & Experience:
This was a very down-to-earth, Italian, Marina restaurant that's family owned and been around for a few generations. To really get the full experience, you must be open minded and truly understand their sense of humor which is actually quite welcoming and genuine. We joked with "sister #1" quite a bit along with a few other tables right on the beach enjoying the sunset. This was truly a fun and memorable experience in Italy. We've had our fair share of unwelcoming servers, but our experience here at the five sisters was far from that.
Things to keep in mind: cash only, they don't give you a receipt so just keep the price in mind and ask before you order. Most importantly, have an open mind :)
We were so into our food, we had forgotten to take the pictures before hand. -

Lots of restaurants in this area but in the evening everywhere was packed. We ended up coming here and had an adequate dinner. Had the mixed seafood salad where the dish was all pickled and I just couldn't eat it, the fried sardines were good. Had the house white which started to taste food after a few mouthfuls. I wouldn't come back.
Tip: they don't take credit cards only cash which we only found out at the end of our meal when we went to pay. -

This place is a classic tourist trap right on the beach. My friend came here and his total bill was 17euro but they told him 37euro. When he asked for the receipt to check why the price was so high they ripped up the receipt in front of him, asked him to pay, and leave. Truly a horrible experience, horrible people, and they don't care for tourists.
Do not go here, period. Our hotel even suggested we don't go there. You have been warned. -

EXTREMELY RUDE STAFF. I would not recommend this place. I was yelled at and spoken to in Italian so i could not understand. I asked if they had cranberry juice and the waitress lost it on me, even slamming a cup on the table.

On a warm and peaceful sorrento night we were looking for a delightful meal on the marina grande of sorrento. As we strolled past many restaurants we were nearly dragged into this establishment. A fairly elderly sister convinced us that they had "good food, good prices and good soup". Before we could even decide to eat there the sister rushed us sit down at a table.
We got pulled into their trap because we were simply so hungry and boy oh boy do i have a story for you. The location of this restaurant was pretty good but do not dine here.
To begin I would like to tell you some things about the five sisters. The service from them is not too good. It is slightly bad and they are slightly rude. When we dined here we were expecting FIVE sisters. Instead we only saw 3 sisters and a brother? Simply false advertising. They also have pictures on the walls saying that famous people such as gordon ramsey ate there, but do not be fooled. The only way the icon that is gordon ramsey would have eaten here would be on the "kitchen nightmares" television show ! Do not trust these people. Not only were the five sisters a bit rude they also attempted to STEAL money from us by not returning the right amount of change (we believe that this is something that the sisters to fairly often) Not only are they liars, scammers and bad cookers, in addition, the five sisters are well known in london for being cocaine dealers. Be aware of these scammers fellow reader !
Now we shall move on to speak about the beverages and bread. When we were seated we received bread, which may have been a kind gesture but the bread was simply bad and stale and not very tasty. To drink I ordered peach juice which was delivered very quickly, however this does leave me to believe that it came pre made and was not hand squeezed. That is however alright as it was still quite delicious. We also ordered 3 aperol spritz'. These were actually not that bad, except for the oranges which did not taste very fresh but we forgive them for that. What we do not forgive them for is the rest of the food and experience that followed.
Our food was delivered in a timely fashion, however it was simply bad. We did in fact try to warn other diners being lured into this tourist trap about how bad it was but they may not have understood our thumbs down hand gestures. We ordered a fish and chips dish which was particularly problematic. Since we are on the shore we expected fresh and tasty seafood. The fish was flavorless, served with bones still fried inside and had many questionable dark spots. The fries were also bad because they were not salty and were frozen and heated up. The ketchup was also incredibly sweet( but we do not blame them for this one). They also do not have tartar sauce but whatever that's fine. The seafood pasta was surprisingly kind of tasty and good. The rest of our food was not too good. The gnocchi sorrentina was just absolutely problematic. Not only did they add far too much salt, they forgot to add any type of flavor. The dish was bland and in addition the cheese tasted old.
In general if you are ever in sorrento, do not stop near this restaurant for even a second ! you will be trapped !
